Topic Evolution of Environment, Safety and Health at Sandia Labs
This virtual presentation will include an introduction to the new Director and Chief of Safety of Environment, Safety and Health at Sandia National Laboratories and his journey to get there. David will present how Sandia is evolving ES&H through talent development, inclusion and diversity, and a strengthened safety culture. In addition, the organization has recently pursued a transformation of its work planning and control approach and IT platforms to keep up with the pace of our vital national security mission.
Speaker David Stuhan
As the Director of Environment, Safety and Health (ES&H) at Sandia National Laboratories, David Stuhan leads an organization of over 400 professionals responsible for the ES&H programs for 15,000+ employees across the globe. In his previous role at Sandia, David served as the Senior Manager of Emergency Management, where he led a strategic transformation of the program that included the design of a new Emergency Operations Center.
David’s 20+ years in the U.S. Department of Energy’s National Nuclear Security Administration Enterprise has demonstrated leadership and experience focused on high consequence assets, facilities, and operations. Prior to joining Sandia in 2020, David was Division Leader for Emergency Management at Los Alamos National Lab, Manager of Emergency Management and Security at the Waste Isolation Pilot Plant (WIPP), and Manager of Emergency Management at the Nevada National Security Site.
David has a bachelor’s degree in Business Management from the University of Phoenix and a master’s degree in Emergency Management from Jacksonville State University. He is a Certified Emergency Manager (CEM) and a Certified Safety Manager (CSM).
