Topic Safety and Quality Assurance in the Air Force

As a Quality Assurance Inspector, SSgt Hickey’s primary responsibility is to ensure that maintenance practices meet strict safety and quality standards. The mission of his unit relies heavily on the performance and reliability of the aircraft they maintain. The safety of their service members and the success of the mission depends on their ability to identify potential hazards before they lead to accidents.

Speaker Staff Sergeant David Hickey

Staff Sergeant David Hickey is Quality Assurance Inspector for 58th Maintenance Group, Kirtland Air Force Base, NM. He inspects over 804 Airmen across 12 Air Force Specialty Codes. He ensures his team’s effective work/life balance while accomplishing repairs and inspections to deliver safe and reliable C-130J, AC-130J, CV-22, UH-1N, and HH-60 aircraft to Air Education and Training Command’s and the 58th Maintenance Groups $2.46B Flying Hour Program. Sergeant Hickey grew up as an Air Force brat but claims Michigan where he was born and Boston Mass where he attended High School and went to the University of Massachusetts for Track and field as a Decathlete. He entered the Air Force in December of 2014 and graduated as an Airlift/Special Mission Aircraft Maintenance Specialist Apprentice in June 2015. He has experience performing and managing flightline and Isochronal maintenance activities for C-130J aircraft. He has been stationed at several state-side bases. Prior to his current position, SSgt Hickey was the Designated Crew Chief of C-130J 5706, 58th Aircraft Maintenance Squadron, Kirtland Air Force Base, New Mexico.
